SKINPEN MICRONEEDLING
SKINPEN MICRONEEDLING BRISBANE MILTON
SkinPen is a microneedling device that creates tiny, controlled micro-channels in the skin to stimulate its natural repair response and collagen production. Over a course of usually three or more treatments, it may improve the appearance of acne scarring, fine lines and texture. Results vary.

Pre-Treatment Preparation
Timely Scheduling
Plan your appointment at least 1-2 weeks before a special occasion, like a wedding or vacation, to mitigate the risk of bruising and swelling after the treatment.
Medicines and supplements
Please tell us about all medicines and supplements you take when you book.
Medication Caution
If anything you take may increase your risk of bruising or bleeding, we will discuss it with you at your consultation – never stop a prescribed medicine without first speaking to your doctor.
Cold sore history
If you have a history of cold sores and your treatment area is near the mouth, please let us know when you book. We may suggest you speak with your GP or pharmacist about cold sore prevention before your appointment.
Rescheduling for Illness
Reschedule your appointment at least 24 hours in advance if you feel unwell or have an active infection in the treatment area.
Pre-Treatment Precautions
Refrain from sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanning products at least 24 hours before treatment, preferably for one week before and after. Treatment within 24 hours of prolonged sun exposure may result in hypopigmentation or hyperpigmentation.
Avoid chemical peels, invasive skin treatments, and laser procedures two weeks before and after skin needling.
Stop using prescription vitamin A (retinoid) creams one week before and after treatment, unless your doctor advises otherwise.
Ensure the treated area is clean and free of lotion, makeup, and sunscreen before the session.
Inform your provider of any tattoos, including cosmetic tattooing, near the treatment area, as they must be avoided.
Refrain from waxing or using chemical depilatories for two weeks before and after treatment.
Tell us about all medicines and supplements you take – never stop a prescribed medicine without first speaking to your doctor.
Steer clear of vigorous physical activity and excessive alcohol intake 24 hours before your treatment to minimise the risk of bruising.
Post Treatment Care
Avoid Alcohol and Strenuous Exercise
Your skin will be sensitive to the sun for several weeks after SkinPen microneedling. To prevent adverse effects, avoid sun exposure on the day of your treatment as sunscreen will not be applied. You can resume sunscreen use 24 hours after the procedure. It’s recommended to continue minimising sun exposure for 72 hours post-procedure to prevent unwanted pigmentation and sun damage.
Minimise Touch
Skin needling leaves your skin in a highly sensitive state. Avoid skincare products containing active ingredients such as retinol, alpha hydroxy acids, and vitamin C for five days post-treatment. Incorporating these products back into your routine too soon may cause irritation.
Makeup and sweating
Refrain from applying makeup for at least 24 hours post-treatment (Dermaceutic K Ceutic recovery cream) to allow your skin barrier to heal and reduce the risk of infection. Skin needling induces heat in the skin during the natural healing process. Avoid sweating and activities that generate heat in the skin for 24 hours as it can exacerbate redness, increase the risk of infection, and lead to adverse skin reactions.
avoid
Please let us know if you have had, or are planning, any other in-clinic cosmetic procedures, including injectable treatments, within two weeks of your appointment so we can plan timing safely.
Got a question?
No problem.
Before you book
Every treatment at The Aesthetic Co begins with a consultation with one of our Registered Nurses to confirm it is suitable for you. All procedures carry risks, and individual results vary – your clinician will talk you through possible side effects, recovery, the number of sessions you may need and how long results may last before you decide. Our cosmetic treatments are for adults aged 18 and over.
