Before you book
Every treatment at The Aesthetic Co begins with a consultation with one of our Registered Nurses to confirm it is suitable for you. Frequently Asked Questions
HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY TREATMENT ON THE DAY?
Come to your appointment without makeup. Refrain from engaging in strenuous exercise, consuming alcohol, or smoking on the day of your appointment. If you’re feeling unwell, consider rescheduling. Prior to your appointment, have a meal and stay hydrated to reduce the likelihood of experiencing light-headedness or dizziness during your treatment.
AM I SUITABLE TO RECEIVE THIS TREATMENT?
Before considering Laser Genesis For Active Acne, it’s important to assess if you are a suitable candidate. Please note that if you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, have taken oral isotretinoin (a prescription acne medicine) in the past 6 months, use anticoagulants, or have undergone gold therapy, you may not be suitable for the treatment. Additionally, individuals with vitiligo, a history of keloids or hypertrophic scarring, or those with open wounds should exercise caution. Keep in mind to maintain a minimum distance of 6 inches from Pacemakers/Defibrillators and avoid treating over dysplastic nevi or questionable pigmented lesions. Also, refrain from treating areas with tattoos or permanent makeup, metal or electronic implants, and if you are undergoing treatment for skin cancer. Our cosmetic treatments are for adults aged 18 and over. If you are under 18 and concerned about acne, we recommend speaking with your GP.
HOW DOES LASER GENESIS WORK FOR ACTIVE ACNE?
Laser Genesis utilises micro-pulse laser energy to gently heat the deeper layers of the skin (dermis), leading to targeted benefits over the course of treatment:
- Reduction in inflammatory lesions, blackheads, and pustules associated with acne
- Improvement in uneven skin tone, texture, and pore size
- Safe and gentle treatment for general redness
- Assistance in fading acne and other types of scarring
- Stimulation of new collagen production, promoting vibrant and healthy-looking skin
- Reduction in the appearance of fine lines
At The Aesthetic Co, we offer low downtime laser treatments, with a special focus on providing priority access for those dealing with acne and acne scarring.
WHAT IS LASER GENESIS FOR ACTIVE ACNE?
Laser Genesis for acne and scars employs a specific laser wavelength meticulously designed to target the sebaceous glands responsible for oil production. When these glands become overactive, excessive oil production can lead to clogged pores and the development of acne. Laser Genesis specifically addresses and mitigates the overactivity of sebaceous glands, resulting in a reduction of oil production and a decrease in acne breakouts. Over a series of sessions it may help reduce the redness and inflammation associated with active acne. It works best alongside a skincare plan and, where needed, medical care from your GP or dermatologist.
WHAT DOES LASER GENESIS FEEL LIKE?
You will experience a gentle warming of your skin’s surface during the procedure. Patients often describe the treatment as relaxing and therapeutic.
WHEN WILL I SEE RESULTS?
You’ll notice visible improvements after your initial treatment, with more significant results developing over time. Treatment plans are customised for each patient, but typically, achieving optimal results requires 3-5 sessions spaced four weeks apart.
HOW MANY TREATMENTS ARE REQUIRED FOR OPTIMAL RESULTS?
A series of four to six Laser Genesis treatments are recommended to achieve an optimal outcome. Improvements are gradual and will be seen over a period of few treatments. Results will continue to improve for months after the last treatment. To sustain results over time, ongoing maintenance treatments are encouraged.
ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS ASSOCIATED WITH LASER GENESIS?
Because the Laser Genesis procedure is noninvasive, you may notice a slight redness immediately after treatment which will resolve within a few hours. Most people return to their normal daily activities the same day.
IS LASER GENESIS FOR ME?
If you are looking for a treatment with little recovery time, Laser Genesis may be an option to discuss with your clinician. Most people have mild redness for a few hours and return to normal activities the same day.
WHAT PRODUCTS AND DEVICES DO YOU USE?
We use devices and professional skincare sourced through authorised Australian suppliers, and devices are included on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) where required. Your clinician will explain the products and devices that are relevant to your treatment plan, including their risks, during your consultation.
WHAT DOES TREATMENT COST?
Your clinician will give you a written treatment plan with the full cost of your recommended course at your consultation, before you book any treatment. Accepted payment methods are listed at checkout and in clinic.
