Our Signature Chemical Peels

Got a question?
No problem.

Welcome to The Aesthetic Co, a nurse-led boutique skin clinic nestled in Milton, Brisbane. We care for women and men with treatment plans tailored to their skin, and every treatment begins with a consultation with one of our Registered Nurses.

Before you book

Every treatment at The Aesthetic Co begins with a consultation with one of our Registered Nurses to confirm it is suitable for you. All procedures carry risks, and individual results vary – your clinician will talk you through possible side effects, recovery, the number of sessions you may need and how long results may last before you decide. Our cosmetic treatments are for adults aged 18 and over.

Frequently Asked Questions

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY Chemical Peel ON THE DAY?

  • Avoid using products with alpha hydroxy acid (AHA), beta hydroxy acid (BHA), or benzoyl peroxide on your face.
  • Cease the use of any exfoliating products that might cause dryness or irritation.

WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT POST Chemical PEEL?

Immediate after-effects of the peel may include temporary redness or a flushed appearance, possibly accompanied by minor swelling, and in some cases, frosting—a brief white discoloration lasting up to 24 hours. Over the following 2 to 7 days, depending on the peel’s strength, you may notice some mild skin peeling or flaking. Lower-strength Lactobotanical peels (20% to 30%) usually result in minimal flaking, while more potent peels may lead to increased shedding for about a week. However, not everyone will experience significant peeling, and this does not indicate ineffectiveness. Keep in mind that the peel serves as a delivery method for active ingredients and provides light exfoliation. For stronger peels, careful treatment planning is essential until you understand your skin’s reaction. Adequate skin preparation before the peel is crucial to minimise recovery time.

AM I SUITABLE TO RECEIVE THIS TREATMENT?

Please inform Nurse Jacintha of any regular medications you are taking. If you are taking oral isotretinoin (a prescription acne medicine), using prescription vitamin A (retinoid) creams, or undergoing chemotherapy, this treatment may not be suitable for you. Additionally, if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, have an allergy to aspirin or nuts, sunburnt skin, cold sores, active rashes (including rosacea), or have serious medical conditions affecting the heart or immune system, we recommend reaching out before your appointment, as you may not be suitable for this treatment.

WHAT ARE CHEMICAL PEELS AND HOW DO THEY WORK?

A chemical peel is a cosmetic treatment that uses a chemical solution to exfoliate and rejuvenate the skin. It works by removing the outer layer of damaged skin cells, stimulating collagen and hyaluronic acid production for a renewed and youthful appearance.

WHAT CONCERNS CAN BE ADDRESSED WITH CHEMICAL PEELS?

Our chemical peels target a range of skin concerns, including texture improvement, pigmentation reduction, acne scarring, pore refinement, enhanced hydration, and overall skin health

HOW MANY TYPES OF PEELS DO YOU OFFER?

We offer five specialised chemical peels: Cosmo Peel, Cosmo Peel Fotel, Mask Peel, Milk Peel, and Mela Peel Forte. Each peel caters to specific skin needs, providing benefits such as wrinkle reduction, improved skin tone, decreased age spots, and enhanced luminosity.

HOW OFTEN SHOULD I BOOK IN FOR A CHEMICAL PEEL?

The frequency of chemical peel sessions depends on the specific peel and individual skin needs. Typically, a series of initial treatments is followed by maintenance sessions every 3-6 months.

CAN I COMBINE MY CHEMICAL PEELS WITH OTHER TREATMENTS?

Yes, chemical peels can complement other skincare treatments. However, it’s essential to consult with our skincare experts to create a personalised and effective skincare regimen.

IS THERE ANY DISCOMFORT DURING THE CHEMICAL PEEL APPLICATION?

Most of our chemical peels are well-tolerated and provide a comfortable experience. Most people feel a warm, tingling or stinging sensation for a few minutes while the peel is on the skin. Your clinician will monitor your comfort throughout and adjust the treatment if needed.

WHEN CAN I EXPECT TO SEE RESULTS AFTER MY CHEMICAL PEEL?

Results may vary, but some improvement is generally noticeable within a month, with optimal results becoming more apparent around 3 months post-treatment.

ARE THERE ANY SIDE EFFECTS OR DOWNTIME ASSOCIATED?

Depending on the strength chosen, you may have redness, tightness and light flaking for a few days. Your clinician will select a peel to suit your skin and explain the possible side effects – including irritation, prolonged redness and, rarely, changes in skin colour – before you begin.

WHAT PRODUCTS AND DEVICES DO YOU USE?

We use devices and professional skincare sourced through authorised Australian suppliers, and devices are included on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG) where required. Your clinician will explain the products and devices that are relevant to your treatment plan, including their risks, during your consultation.

WHAT DOES TREATMENT COST?

Your clinician will give you a written treatment plan with the full cost of your recommended course at your consultation, before you book any treatment. Accepted payment methods are listed at checkout and in clinic.
