Prior to your appointment, have a meal and stay hydrated to reduce the likelihood of experiencing light-headedness or dizziness during your treatment.

Who is Excel V+ for redness suitable for? Adults with facial redness, flushing or visible capillaries. It may not be suitable if you are pregnant, have a recent tan, active skin infection or take certain medicines – your clinician will assess this at consultation. Please note that if you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, have taken oral isotretinoin (a prescription acne medicine) in the past 6 months, use anticoagulants, or have undergone gold therapy, you may not be suitable for the treatment. Additionally, individuals with vitiligo, a history of keloids or hypertrophic scarring, or those with open wounds should exercise caution. Keep in mind to maintain a minimum distance of 6 inches from Pacemakers/Defibrillators and avoid treating over dysplastic nevi or questionable pigmented lesions. Also, refrain from treating areas with tattoos or permanent makeup, metal or electronic implants, and if you are undergoing treatment for skin cancer.

Our Cutera Excel V laser treats more than twenty unique aesthetic and dermatologic skin concerns. The most common concerns include rosacea, facial and leg veins, age/brown spots, and acne scars. 

Your dermal therapist will select the Excel V handpiece on our Cutera device and customise the treatment settings to target the colour and depth of your skin concern. Most treatments are finished in just a few minutes, and results are typically seen after a series of 1-3 treatment sessions.

The Excel V+ Laser releases specific wavelengths of light that are absorbed by the blood vessels responsible for redness and visible veins linked to rosacea. This process causes the coagulation and contraction of these blood vessels, leading to diminished redness and an overall enhancement in the skin’s appearance.

With excel V+, most skin concerns require only one to two treatment sessions to achieve results. However, the number of treatments will vary based on your condition. Your excel V+ provider will discuss a customised treatment plan during your consultation. The number of Excel V depigmentation treatments necessary will vary based on the patient, the specific skin condition being addressed, and the severity of the issue. Some people notice a change after their first session, but most need a course of treatments. Your clinician will recommend a plan based on your skin.

Our Cutera Excel V+ CoolView laser can feel similar to a quick rubber band snap against skin. Depending on the procedure, a cooled treatment tip will be in contact with the skin to protect and provide additional comfort to the area. A topical anaesthetic may be available from your provider to improve your treatment experience.

The blood vessels treated and eliminated by the Excel V+ treatment do not reappear permanently. However, new blood vessels may emerge over time. It is advisable to consider a maintenance treatment approximately once per year.

Typically, you can wear make-up and return to normal activities immediately. Redness and/or swelling can be expected following treatment. For full face treatments, swelling will peak 24 to 48 hours post treatment and usually resolves within a few days Your provider may recommend a topical steroid to reduce swelling as needed. Treated brown spots will darken following the treatment and slough off within 3 to 5 days. 

Vascular and pigment laser: Common, temporary effects include redness, swelling, bruising and darkening of treated spots before they flake away. Less commonly, blistering, crusting, burns, infection, changes in skin colour and scarring can occur. Eye protection is worn throughout.
