EXCEL V+ LASER FOR PIGMENT & AGE SPOTS

Prior to your appointment, have a meal and stay hydrated to reduce the likelihood of experiencing light-headedness or dizziness during your treatment.

Before considering Excel V Laser for Pigmentation and Age Spots, it’s important to assess if you are a suitable candidate. Please note that if you are currently pregnant or breastfeeding, have taken oral isotretinoin (a prescription acne medicine) in the past 6 months, use anticoagulants, or have undergone gold therapy, you may not be suitable for the treatment. Additionally, individuals with vitiligo, a history of keloids or hypertrophic scarring, or those with open wounds should exercise caution. Keep in mind to maintain a minimum distance of 6 inches from Pacemakers/Defibrillators and avoid treating over dysplastic nevi or questionable pigmented lesions. Also, refrain from treating areas with tattoos or permanent makeup, metal or electronic implants, and if you are undergoing treatment for skin cancer.

Irregularities in skin tone occur when the body produces an excess of pigments known as melanin, which plays a crucial role in determining hair, skin, and eye colour and protecting the skin from UV rays. However, it can also lead to stubborn spots and blemishes that many wish to eliminate. Melanin overproduction can result from various factors such as genetics, age, stress, hormonal changes, and sun exposure, as well as injuries, acne, and other skin trauma. These concerns find reliable and effective treatment with Excel V laser.

The Excel V laser, powered by a high-energy green laser, effectively addresses skin conditions. The laser’s wavelengths are absorbed by the body, delivering thermal heating to abnormal blood vessels without harming the surrounding systems. The pulses of light energy solidify the blood inside the vessel, correcting blood flow and reducing surface discoloration. With each laser pulse, hyperpigmentation beneath the skin gradually diminishes. The laser device’s variable spot sizes allow for customization to meet the specific requirements of your skin.

Our Excel V laser is the fast and easy way to treat visible veins, discoloration and wrinkles. Excel V+ is a dual-wavelength laser platform used for vascular and pigment concerns. 

Our Cutera Excel V laser treats more than twenty unique aesthetic and dermatologic skin concerns. The most common concerns include rosacea, facial and leg veins, age/brown spots, and acne scars. 

Your dermal therapist will select the Excel V handpiece on our Cutera device and customise the treatment settings to target the colour and depth of your skin concern. Most treatments are finished in just a few minutes, and results are typically seen after a series of 1-3 treatment sessions. 

Our Excel V Laser delivers clinically proven results on a wide range of skin concerns. The treatments are comfortable and fast, with most treatments performed in under 10 minutes. Depending on the area(s) and concerns being treated, some procedures may take up to 30 minutes.

With Excel V, most skin concerns require only one to two treatment sessions to achieve results. However, the number of treatments will vary based on your condition. Your excel V+ provider will discuss a customised treatment plan during your consultation. The number of Excel V depigmentation treatments necessary will vary based on the patient, the specific skin condition being addressed, and the severity of the issue. Some people notice a change after their first session, but most need a course of treatments. Your clinician will recommend a plan based on your skin.

Our Cutera Excel V laser can feel similar to a quick rubber band snap against skin. Depending on the procedure, a cooled treatment tip will be in contact with the skin to protect and provide additional comfort to the area. A topical anaesthetic may be available from your provider to improve your treatment experience.

You’ll notice visible improvements after your initial treatment, with more significant results developing over time. Treatment plans are customised for each patient, but typically, achieving optimal results requires 3-5 sessions spaced four weeks apart.

Results are long-lasting with daily sun protection, but new pigmentation can develop over time.

Typically, you can wear make-up and return to normal activities immediately. Redness and/or swelling can be expected following treatment. For full face treatments, swelling will peak 24 to 48 hours post treatment and usually resolves within a few days Your provider may recommend a topical steroid to reduce swelling as needed. Treated brown spots will darken following the treatment and slough off within 3 to 5 days. 

Vascular and pigment laser: Common, temporary effects include redness, swelling, bruising and darkening of treated spots before they flake away. Less commonly, blistering, crusting, burns, infection, changes in skin colour and scarring can occur. Eye protection is worn throughout.

Your clinician will explain the products and devices that are relevant to your treatment plan, including their risks, during your consultation.
